When the concentration of solution is defined as the ratio of Mass of one component in the solution upon Total mass of solution than the concentration is said to be Mass Percentage or Weight/Weight Percentage. it is expressed as:
Volume Percentage [V/V]
When we express the concentration of solution as the ratio of Volume of one component in the solution upon Total volume of solution then the concentration solution is said to be Volume Percentage. this is expressed as:
Mass by Volume Percentage [M/V]
It is defines as the Mass of solute dissolved in 100ml of the solution.
Parts per Million [PPM]
When solute is present in trace quantities, it is convinent to express concentration in (ppm) The concentration of pollutants in water and atmosphere is expressed in terms of ppm.
